Nintendo DS Picks the Best Selling Console Title

Nintendo DS likes it huge! According to latest statistics, the console brought in sales of 47 million. A good record for the 3DS to topple down.

With a total sale of 47 million units sold, the handheld Nintendo DS achieved the record of being the top-selling video console in the US according to its maker. This data adds to the positivity that must come with the release of the 3DS in Japan next month and to the rest of the world in March.

“When we look back at 2010, we see consumers time and again turning to the value and enjoyment of our products,” Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime mentioned in a press release.  “When we look ahead to 2011, we see new portable technology and more great Wii games that need to be seen to be believed,” he added.

The DS attained such feat considering it is the one of the few portable gaming devices still available in the market today. But the DS should not be too confident since smartphones post huge threats.
