Paramount becomes the first movie distributor to directly sell UltraViolet movies.

Paramount is the first to directly sell UltraViolet movies, a new ‘cloud-based’ content distribution system which allows you to watch digital copies of films using ‘multiple platforms and devices’.

This new platform was first introduced as a package deal that comes with the DVD or Blu-Ray discs but thanks to Paramount, customers can now stream the movie without having to purchase the physical format first.

Customers can now purchase movies on Paramount’s site which can be streamed and viewed live. Prices start at $13 for the standard definition and $20 for the HD version.

Sony: Resuming Blu-ray Production this Month

Two months after an earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, and more than a week after the PSN hack, Sony will resume its Blu-ray production later this month.

Following the Japan earthquake and tsunami that hit the country last March, several production industries in the tech hub were disrupted or shutdown. But two months after the cataclysmic event, consumer electronics company – Sony – said that it will open its Blu-ray production plant in the latter parts of May. The company released a statement this week, pointing out that nine out of its ten production sites were operational again.

To date, Sony has a terrible year, not just because of the recent Japan earthquake and tsunami, but also of the recent PSN hack issues.

Starwars fanatics should rejoice. Marking the 35th anniversary of Star Wars, George Lucas announced the released of a Blu-ray disc collection HD of the movie.

Star Wars, the legendary saga that had hit the hearts of men and women of all ages, will descend upon us on 2011.

George Lucas had already announced that Star Wars films had also hit the HD home theater. Yes, we can take home the Star Wars into our very own homes. Because on fall next year, the Blu-ray disc will be up for grabs. The set will also include a bonus, a Special Edition remastered version of the saga.

The announcement was made at the Star Wars Celebration V. It is an official convention for the movies and their properties. The 2011 release of the Star Wars films on Blu-ray is the mark of their 35th anniversary as with the Episode IV : A New Hope, the first Star Wars film. The disc also include interviews, deleted scenes, outtakes, documentaries, and footages unique to the new set.
