The Avengers, rakes in $200.3 million in the U.S., in just three days.

The Avengers, has reached a box office record of $200.3 million in the U.S., in just three days. It has taken the number one spot away from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, by having the largest domestic box office debut.

So far, the Marvel Comics’ based movie has raked in about $441.5 million, overseas and has made a total of $641.8 million worldwide.

Dave Hollis, Disney Vice President of Distribution, says:
“It’s been a fantastic weekend on every single front.”

For sure, it won’t be long before this star-studded flick hits the $1 billion mark.

The Avengers, An International Box Office Hit

The Avengers was initially released last April 25, 2012 in 10 Different Countries, to hit US cinema on May 4.

The Marvel Comics based film, The Avengers, rakes in a record-breaking box office numbers during its opening day last last April 25, overseas.

The movie earned $6 Million in Australia, making it the second-highest opening in the country, after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. It also landed the biggest opening day ever for both New Zealand and Taiwan. It is expected to earn $150 million, during it’s first weekend in the United States.

The Avangers was initially released in 10 different countries and is set to open in US cinemas on Friday, May 4.

The movie Titanic 3D garners biggest opening weekend of all time in China

James Cameron’s repackaged movie Titanic 3D is a hit with the Chinese audience. The movie earned 58 million in its opening weekend in China, taking the number one spot from Transformers: Dark Side Of The Moon.

This is a record breaker for a movie that has been around for more than a decade and can be easily watched through VHS tapes and DVDs. The film has already earned a total lifetime gross past $2 billion. The 3D version by far, has already garnered $190.9 million worldwide for this year alone.

The novel based movie, The Hunger Games still tops the box office charts, two weeks in a row

The Hunger Games, is still raking in the money and tops the box office charts after its second week of showing. The novel based movie premiered last March 23 and it is currently competing with new movies like Wrath of the Titans and Mirror, Mirror.

The movie is expected to earn $64 million during this weekend, with a 10-day domestic gross of around $250 million. This is compared to the Wrath of the Titans which only brought in $11 million. While Mirror, Mirror has an estimated box office earnings between $22 and $24 million, after opening yesterday.

This week, IMAX cinema announced that Tron: Legacy -- which has been subject to mixed reviews as of late -- has surged past the $50 million mark in takings at the box office.

IMAX cinema announced this week that Tron: Legacy has surpassed its $50 million mark at the box office takings. In an official statement from IMAX, Tron: Legacy made $51.4 million in global revenue.

This acquirement is likely a reflection of the cinematic experience that IMAX can offer. In fact, Tron: Legacy is filled with dazzling effects that are best displayed by superior visuals that an IMAX can permit. In totality, Tron: Legacy made $328.8 million. And with the film still showing at other box offices worldwide, its takings will surely continue to increase.

It was a fight for Silvester Stallone’s “The Expendables” as they top an attack of newcomers for the weekend box office the second time. The Lionsgate movie remained number one for two consecutive weeks with $ 16.5 million income. The film was directed and starred by Stallone, and it is all about the mercenaries that aims to overthrow a dictator. The Expendables raised a total of $ 64.9 million this weekend. According to Hollywood.com, revenues this weekend is now a total of $ 125 million, just 1.7 percent lower than the same time last year.

The estimated sales for Friday until Sunday at US and Canadian theaters are posted below.
