Steel Battalion: Combines Xbox 360 and Kinect Control Scheme

Written on August 17, 2011 by Japhet Writ

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor promises gamers to let them convey the feeling of controlling an imaginary tank with Xbox 360 and Kinect's combined control scheme.

In a world where game devs are doing their best to minimize the number of devices cluttering a gamer’s room, a tank simulator game like Steel Battalion can be questionable. However, Capcom announced at the Tokyo Game Show last year that Steel Battalion’s next release – the Heavy Armor – will harness the power of Kinect. This could mean that the game will let players convey the feeling on controlling an imaginary tank.

In Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, you will take the role of Lieutenant Powers, fighting around the world from the comfort of your Vertical Tank. As for the game controls, the game apparently involves a hybrid of Kinect motion controls and Xbox 360 game pad. The physical controller is used for navigation and bringing destruction to your enemies. The Kinect, on the other hand, will keep track of your “upper body gestures” in firing up your tanks, when using the scope and switching over the vehicle’s gun turret.

The Kinect would also be used when interacting with your crew. This could mean that Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor would offer a co-op component of some sort. However, there are still plenty of details to disclose before its planned release on 2012. So just stick it here at All We Like.

Asura’s Wrath, Taking Players in an Emotional Roller Coaster

Written on August 16, 2011 by Lulu

CyberConnect2 CEO, Hiroshi Matsuyama said in an interview that their newest Asura's Wrath will take players in an emotional roller coaster.

Unlike most of the action games which see a hero develop into a whirlwind of death, CyberConnect and Capcom’s Asura’s Wrath has a non-linear path of progression. Asura, the game’s main protagonist, is an enraged deity which shift from two arms, a powered-up state six-arms and even no arms throughout the story.

CEO of CyberConnect2, Hiroshi Matsuyama, stated in an interview that the game’s progression will be having an emotional ups and down. Asura fights based on his anger, so it will be an emotional roller coaster. Hiroshi Matsuyama also said: “We didn’t want to make a game where you were weak in the beginning and strong at the end. Depending how angry Asura is will affect the situation.”

In the demo, Asura will have more arms as his anger increased. At the end of the battle, Asura will have six arms and will defeat a boss who’s bigger than planet Wyzen. The said fight had specific section where players can channel Asura’s rage, triggering quick time events. Hiroshi Matsuyama said: “You need those ups and downs. When you hit rock bottom from there, Asura can explode with anger. So, we wanted those extremes in Asura’s Wrath.”

Asura’s Wrath’s Preview at E3 2011

From the developer and creator of .hack/Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, CyberConnect2 alongside with Capcom, presents Asura's Wrath.

Asura’s Wrath, Capcom’s newest game, will let you play the role of Asura. Once a revered deity that was betrayed by his fellow gods and stripped of all his powers, he’s now thirsty for vengeance. Asura will use all of his hatred and fury to bring down all of his enemies. One of it is Wyzen — who gets bigger every time Asura beats him.

Asura’s Wrath, developed by CyberConnect2, has a lot of qualities that make it more exciting than the other games that can be seen in E3 2011. With a story and a game play structure similar to Sony’s God of War, this game is also serious about combining the gameplay brawling, launching occasional crowd clearing attack and shooting mystical objects.

To move with the game’s structure, you’ll play through a level until you’ve made enough improvement to fill a “burst” gauge. Upon hitting a particular button, it will trigger an interactive cut-scene (QTE-laden) that moves the story along same as the transitions into the next scene. All of this features are wrapped up in a kind of presentation that hangs the gamers chapter by chapter, making it more interesting to play. This also builds satisfying stops within the games.
