Cisco to Acquire Skype?

Written on August 30, 2010 by B Waldorf

Cisco is rumored to acquire Skype. A huge deal in the works.

Cisco once said: We are the worldwide leader in networking that transforms how people connect, communicate and collaborate. We all know that Skype does the same. It is communication even in far-flung places. Cisco made an offer to acquire Skype before the completion of their IPO process. The rumor wasn’t confirmed yet. The company as always, locks down the IPO process tight lipped and zipped.

But if the big acquisition is true, then this would be big. Skype people are hoping for “an out of the gate valuation of $5 billion”. But the bidding might change anytime.

Also, Google has allegedly been seen around Skype, but the antitrust concerns may hold back their offers.

Stay tuned for this news.
