Apple: To Release Third-Generation iPad Later this Year?

A report claims that Apple's next-generation iPad will just be an extension of iPad 2 rather than a full iPad 3 update.
Along with the issues of whether to name the next-generation iPhone as “iPhone 5″ or “iPhone 4S”, few reports as well revealed that Apple may release its third iPad device sometime this year — perhaps this would be about six months after the official debut of iPad 2.
FBR Capital Markets analyst, Craig Berger, cited: “There are some indications from the supply chain that Apple may look to introduce an ‘iPad 2 Plus’ device as they put out request for quotes from various component suppliers for this marginally different device. Apple may launch the device in late 2011″.
Most of the reports also claimed that the next-gen iPad will be called as “iPad3″. However, Craig Berger believes that the future device is not actually considered as a “full-fledged third-generation iPad.” Instead, it will only be an extension of the iPad 2. Thus, the right term to be used for the next-gen iPad is “iPad 2 Plus”.
