File Sharing Recognized As An Official Religion In Sweden

The Missionary Church of Kopimism, a religion based around file sharing has been recognized by the Swedish state.
Since its beginning in 2010, members of The Missionary Church of Kopimism, a group rooted in the belief that ‘information is holy and copying is a sacrament’ have been trying to get their file sharing religion recognized and after a series of failed attempts, the Swedish state finally gave them its official blessing.
Isak Gerson, a Philosophy student and a ‘religious’ file-sharer, founded Kopimism to spread and protect his beliefs. The group which now has thousands of followers all over Sweden consider the official state recognition a huge step towards their goal to freely live out their beliefs and protect it from ‘legal stigmata’.
