Motorola Droid Bionic, Tagged at $300 on its Launch

Written on August 21, 2011 by Lulu

Motorola's droid Bionic is said to be released on September 8, and it might cost $300.

Verizon might give the Motorola Droid Bionic a very expensive asking price when they ship the handset in. A leaked internal note has the least advertised price at $300 on contract, or as much as the Droid Charge. Android Central’s copy also penned in a September 8 release date.

The said pricing ties it for the most expensive Verizon’s phone and could put it out of contention versus the iPhone 5, which is expected to be released a few weeks later. Apple might start off the iPhone 5 with a price tag of $199. Motorola, like others, may need to charge a premium for first generation LTE hardware. How much of that pricing in Verizon’s versus Motorola’s is still unclear.

The remade Droid Bionic will be Verizon’s first dual-core 4G phone and, in a break from the pack, will use a TI OMAP processor instead of the usual Tegra 2. It also have a 4.3 inch 540×960 screen that might make it one of the visually richer models. It will also be on par in cameras with 8 megapixels at the back and at least a VGA resolution camera at the front.

FCC revealed Motorola's new Droid Bionic on weekend, along with some information about the said device.

The new Droid Bionic from Motorola was shown in the newly published FCC filing. The user manual displays a “global phone” section, claiming that the Android 2.3 device has a GSM hardware for world roaming. If this certain information is true, then it will be Verizon’s first LTE-based phone usable with voice outside of the US.

The filing also confirmed that the new Bionic is the Targa itself.

Firefox 4 Beta Now in Mobiles Phones

Written on October 10, 2010 by B Waldorf

Many have waited for this one. Good news Mozilla fans! The mobile version of Firefox 4 Beta is here. It runs on Android and Nokia phones. Sad to say, iPhone is excluded.

Mozilla is can be defined as the browser of the world. And now, not just to your PCs and laptop but to your beloved phones as well. We’ve waited for this for so long and now, our wish was finally granted.

Known before as “Fennec”, Mozilla’s mobile version is simply called Firefox. The roll out is available for Nokia N900 users and any device under the Android 2.0 commonly known as Eclair. Supported devices includes Droid, Droid 2, Droid X, Desire, Evo, Galaxy S and more.

Sorry iPhone people, but you have to stick with your old Firefox Home app in the App Store. Mozilla however, has no plans to work on BlackBerry as of the moment.

This mobile browser is “built on the same technology platform as Firefox 4 for desktop computers, just optimized for browsing on a mobile device.” according to Mozilla. The project is still in beta, updates for the final version is on its way.

Droid Pro Discovered

Written on August 26, 2010 by Rudfer Tyron

Stories spring Web-wide that Verizon Wireless is about to release the hatch for yet another Droid phone, which has no other name than the Droid Pro.

This is not the tweaked Droid X for the hopefuls out there, but it is for real. We are not speculating for a new phone, and yet we should not if it is for a new phone to cure our Droid-invoked miseries, particularly from the Droid 2.

The recently released updated version of the original Droid is sleek and sound, compared to the summer-released Droid X. But reviewers tossed up and mixed their love and hate for the device. The novel Motoblur interface has been applauded by some people on the sphere. Its failure to innovate on the down-side issues of the first Droid has been remarkable.

This is the scene where the Droid Pro will have to prove itself, it cannot be helped. Fellows from Engadget said it is a global version of the Droid 2 in essence. Rigged with both GSM and CDMA radios, the Droid Pro will be “identical to the current Droid 2 in every way except for the fact that it houses a GSM / HSPA radio for global roaming,” according to Engadget’s Chris Ziegler.
