Encyclopaedia Britannica, to cease print production, will focus on their online encyclopedias and educational curriculum for schools

From our great-grandfathers time to our generation, our libraries were adorned with leather bound copies of the well known Encyclopaedia Britannica. Before the days that internet was used for research, this well loved encyclopedia is the one we turn to when we need answers to our questions. After its 244-year run, Jorge Cauz, the president of the Chicago-based Encyclopaedia Britannica Inc., has confirmed to the New York Times, that it will cease their print operations.

Wikipedia Concludes Fundraiser and Reaches $20M

Wikipedia successfully ended its annual fundraiser with a record-breaking $20M, surpassing its $16M goal.

The Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization behind the Wikipedia and other related sites has just concluded its annual fundraising campaign after it reached a record breaking $20M that surpasses its $16M goal.

The conclusion of the campaign also marks the end of its quirky fundraising banners which are now replaced by a ‘thank you’ banner. This banner is linked to a letter coming from Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director Sue Gardner, thanking its donors for their generous contributions and for making Wikipedia the ‘#5 most-popular site in the world’.
