Wi-Fi Direct: Non-Hotspot Wi-Fi Function

Forget Bluetooth, better own the new Wi-Fi Direct. What does it do? It just gives you a Wi-Fi connection via a Wi-Fi device. You won't be needing the hotspots anymore. This technology is just awesome!

The Wi-Fi Alliance team has something worthwhile to share to you Wi-Fi fanatics. A news that will start a new trend. It was confirmed that the team produced a non-hotspot Wi-Fi called Wi-Fi Direct that makes connections among devices easy and hassle-free. This project is launched today. Great news, right?

The Wi-Fi Alliance conceptualized the Wi-Fi Direct by simply certifying the standard and guaranteeing inter-operability within devices. It doesn’t require wireless networks because there is a thing called micro-hotspots. This invention will allow devices such as Eye-Fi memory card to beam an image to a wireless printer. Voila! Your cellphone photo is now in hard copy. Then, you might raise concern about the speed. Wi-Fi Direct is based on 802.11b/g/n channels. Plus, the range is inevitable. The future Wi-Fi Direct devices are quite similar to home wireless networks.

This may be the downfall of the Bluetooth, since generally, the Wi-Fi Direct acquires the same function as what the Bluetooth provides.

Here’s a quick rendition of the functionality of Wi-Fi Direct, just click the link:
