Facebook is few steps away in completing the requirements to trademark the word “face.” Allwelike can't help but wonder: Is the word “book” the next stop?

Five years ago, Facebook filed for the trademark of the word “face.” According to Insider Facebook, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office sent their notice of allowance for the said  request last Tuesday.

Furthermore, the approval of using the term becomes fully credited in the event Facebook completes the requirements such as payment of fee, filing statement of use and approval of a lawyer. The social network company is given three months to complete the tasks.

The notice of allowance coverage includes:

Telecommunication services, namely, providing online chat rooms and electronic bulletin boards for transmission of messages among computer users in the field of general interest and concerning social and entertainment subject matter, none primarily featuring or relating to motoring or to cars.

In the past few months, Facebook has been securing terms which regarded to be highly relevant to the website. It threatens to take legal action to any company which seem to offend the site. This incident already happened to websites Lamebook and TeachBook.
