Windows Phone 7 Mango Have Hidden Feature

Written on August 25, 2011 by Lulu

A hidden feature of Windows Phone 7 Mango has been discovered on late Wednesday. Look out for the hotspot!

A discovery on late Wednesday revealed that Windows Phone 7 has a hidden mobile hotspot feature.¬†While not revealed in public, and might have no one officially, an Internet sharing section enable users share a 3G or 4G link over Wi-Fi for up to five people — much like Android, iPhone and BlackBerry 7 devices. The code is in at least the gold master build (7720.68), and could exist on all Windows phones.

Popular ChevronWP7 contributor, Rafael Rivera, confirmed the said code and speculated that – like Apple – the feature depended on a carrier profile that enables it. Almost all carriers who object to letting customers tether or use a hotspot out of the box often want to test the feature first before they enable it and begin to charge subscribers.

Several Mango features, like multitasking, the IE9-based browser and deeper voice control, are public. Whether or not all of those are revealed to the masses isn’t evident yet. Even the currently shipping IS12T, which is the world’s first Mango phone, doesn’t have all its features readily available.

Rumor Alert: Apple will release the iPad 3 as early as Thanksgiving.

It was rumored that Apple will break its cycle of releasing one iPad per year, as the Cupertino-based company is set to unveil the iPad 3 this year. The next-gen iPad is said to feature high resolution Retina Display, and it was also speculated to be an “iPad Pro” model. The said iPad Pro unit will compliment its iPad 2 predecessor, rather than completely replace it.

Taiwan Economic News reported that Apple’s iPad 3 could launch at iPad 2’s current price, while the latter will be discounted. This will be done in order to clear the device’s stock inventory. The report also added that the third-generation Apple tablet will hit the stores “by Thanksgiving or next year.”

However, speculations will remain as it is, so people will have to take these information as a grain of salt as of the moment.

Go buy some virtual good on Facebook with your buddies with their newest "Buy with Friends." Do you have your Facebook Credits ready?

As of the moment, Facebook is testing a new feature called “Buy with Friends”. For the feature to work, a user must make an in-app purchase using Facebook Credits, then shares it in his Newsfeed. A friend will see the post, and can buy the same item with discount directly from the feed. However, Facebook’s “Buy with Friends” only works for some in-game purchases of virtual goods.

Though currently restricted to virtual goods, this feature could be expanded to physical goods as well. With more and more retailers putting up a shop on Facebook, this new feature prototype can be the social network’s way to participate in group-buying offers.

Will Facebook’s “Buy with Friends” be another favorite feature? Share your insights by leaving a comment.
