Subway and Not McDonald’s is the World’s Largest Food Chain

The sandwich toppled the burger.
Wall Street Journal reported that Subway is now the world’s largest restaurant chain. The sandwich chain which has 33,749 restaurants worldwide stole the honor from McDonald’s, with store number of 32,737.
According to WSJ, Subway has great potential in the international market. The company opened recently opened its 1000th location in Asia.
Subway opened there first international branch in Bahrain in 1984. Don Fertman, Subway’s Chief Development Officer, said that by 2020, the international chains might exceed the local ones in terms of revenue.
