U.S. court denies Apple's request to block sales of Samsung Galaxy devices

“It is not clear that an injunction on Samsung’s accused devices would prevent Apple from being irreparably harmed,” U.S. judge wrote in a decision that came out last Friday, December 2, denying Apple’s appeal for a preliminary injunction against Samsung and from stopping it from selling Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

The two companies have been battling it out in court since April, when Apple Inc filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Samsung for ‘slavishly’ copying and using a number of technologies off its iPad and iPhone.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1: To be Removed from Sale in Europe

Written on August 10, 2011 by Japhet Writ

Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be removed from the European market, after the Regional Court of Dusseldorf granted Apple with preliminary injunction.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 – which went on sale last week – must be removed from sale in Europe. Moreover, the company must stop marketing it. This comes after the Regional Court of Dusseldorf granted Apple a preliminary injunction against Samsung’s sale and marketing of the said device in all European countries other than The Netherlands.

The ruling backed the Cupertino-based company’s claim that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 infringed the intellectual property and copied the elements of iPad 2. And while the Korean conglomerate can make a counter appeal, the injunction will remain. That said, any appeal would be heard in about four weeks.

Samsung replied:

“Samsung is disappointed with the court’s decision and we intend to act immediately to defend our intellectual property rights through the ongoing legal proceedings in Germany and will continue to actively defend these rights throughout the world.”

Samsung Galaxy Player Challenges the iPod Touch this 2011

Move over iPod Touch, Galaxy Player is here! The Galaxy Player will show off on CES 2011 next year. And according to critics, the competitiveness of the device is too hot to handle. Tech geeks can only guess.

Beware Apple! Samsung plans to roll out it latest “phoneless” media player at CES 2011 with its newest Galaxy Player. The Galaxy Player is a music player that shares a lot of tech with its brother, the Galaxy tab. It runs on Android 2.2 OS and equipped with front and rear facing cameras.

Samsung hasn’t revealed if the slim and sexy player will be on sale, but the company unveiled that the 9.8mm-thin device will be available in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities. For the hard-core video enthusiasts, Samsung gives you a 4-inch 800×480-pixel touchscreen, with a 1GHz processor underneath to supply sufficient “oomph” for HD playback.

Although the Samsung Galaxy Player has promising properties, the competition with iPod is still questionable since they fall short of Apple’s 960×640-pixel “retina display.” But let’s see what it can do. Samsung plans to roll out its latest personal media player at CES 2011 on January 6 – 9. Spectators can’t take their hands off the CES 2011 this January in Las Vegas!
