Nuvi GPS Recall: Time for a Unit-Check

Defective batteries, possible property damage, and more than a million-unit worth of recall. Kansas-based electronics manufacturer Garmin thinks some Nuvi GPSes have to be taken under control.
August 26–Garmin ordered the recall of 1.25 million Nuvi GPS units because of overly heat-inducing batteries, manufactured by an unnamed third party, where 796,000 are sold in the US.
Not all Garmin GPSes are affected, though, but only units embedded with model numbers 200W, 250W, 260W, 7xx and 7xxT. A checking site is available for users to know if their units are affected. US and Canadian owners may connect with Garmin through 866-957-1981.
