An anonymous bidder pays more than 130,000USD for Princess Beatrice’s Hat on eBay. Now that's a royal price for the royal hat.

A Philip Treacey creation, the controversial headpiece worn by Princess Beatrice last month at her cousin Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding fetched £81,000 (around $131,648), on eBay last Sunday evening.

The hat’s eBay page described the hat as a “unique sculptural celebratory headpiece in delicate tea rose silk.” The page has been taken down since the item has already been sold.

The proceeds will be given to UNICEF UK and Children in Crisis. The bids were more than 64 including one from Australian children’s TV stars The Wiggles, according to the Guradian.

“I’ve been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted,” the Princess said.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to raise as much money as possible for two fantastic charities,” she added.
