Going HTML5: The Internet Archive’s Video Library

Internet Archive's digital video assets can now be viewed on your iPhone or iPad. Thanks to Flash and HTML5!
Internet Archive announced yesterday that their entire collection of digital videos will now be available in HTML5 and Flash. The organization will use the Kaltura open source in order to provide some 500,000 digital video assets. Kaltura’s video player will determine whether a device and browser supports HTML 5 and Flash, and will deliver the content accordingly.
The use of Kaltura video player matches the Internet Archive’s commitment of ensuring that the contents are accessible. Videos on Archive.org can now be viewed on iPhone, iPad and standard browsers which supports HTML 5. The Kaltura video tools also support HTML5 standard for timed text — making the subtitles to be easily viewed by hearing impaired and multilingual users.
