Samsung Galaxy S II had surpassed the record of the original Galaxy S as it obtained over 10 million on sales in just five months.
Samsung cracked another milestone on Sunday, and said that the Galaxy S II passed 10 million sales on its first five months on market. This surpasses the original Galaxy S that took seven months to hit the same amount. The largest piece of Galaxy S II sales 3.6 million, was in Samsung’s native South Korea.
Europe is almost as equal in importance and has seen 3.4 million S II units trade hands to date. Southeast Asia outside of Korea was considerably less of a factor at 2.3 million. The goals include very few of North America, as the Galaxy S II only went on sale in Canada through Bell in July and was otherwise limited to unlock full price versions until this month.Read the rest of the article »
Apple won a minor marketing battle versus Samsung in the UK, as the former expands its global patent war with the latter into the UK courts as well.
With the released of its Galaxy S II which measures 8.71mm thick, Samsung challenged Apple’s marketing of its 9.3mm iPhone 4 as the “world’s thinnest smartphone.” However, UK’s Advertising Standards Authority determined that the Cupertino-based company’s device is indeed thinner. ASA also noted that Samsung’s Galaxy S II has prominent bulges at the top of the device.
ASA further reported that “Apple said consumers would not be interested in the thinnest part of the device, but in its overall measurements, as these would, for example, affect whether the device could fit into a pocket or purse.”
Meanwhile, Apple has separately filed a law suit against Samsung with regards to patents in the UK. The latter, on the other hand, stated that it was a countersuit to patent claims filed by Samsung in June. Both companies are also engaged in active patent battles in the US, American ITC, Japan, South Korea, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, France and Australia.View Article Source »

Reports said that Apple is planning to release a redesigned iPad, the "iPad HD", this coming fall with a 9.7" 2048x1536 pixel display.
Recent reports from “This is my Next” claimed that Apple will be releasing its new “iPad HD”, a higher-resolution iPad, later this year. The said launching will be scheduled along with the current iPad 2, and will target consumers from the video and photo market. Few Apple apps, such as Final Cut Pro or Aperture, are also expected to be sold alongside the next-gen iPad.
Sources also discussed the issue of whether the next-generation iPhone should be referred as “iPhone 5″ or “iPhone 4s”, since there are previous news stating that Apple’s 5th-gen iPhone will just be an extension of iPhone 4 rather than a full iPhone 5 update. As reports disclosed, the company is planning to produce a smaller and lighter design for the next iPhone. However, they’ve done such tests within the limits of iPhone 4, which creates the idea that iPhone 5 is not really a complete redesign.Read the rest of the article »
Apple orders 15 million iPhone 5 from Pegatron, shipments will begin on September.
As reported by DigiTimes, Taiwan-based notebook maker – Pegatron Technology – received 15 million iPhone 5 orders from Apple, and the shipping for the said devices is slated on September 2011.
The report also disclosed that in 2010, Pegatron has expanded its human power and facilities in order to reach the 10 million CDMA iPhone 4 orders from Apple. However, the company’s iPhone 4 sales during the first quarter were lower than expected, forcing Pegatron to ship less than four million CDMA iPhone 4s. This move had caused Apple’s “utilization rate to drop to only 50%.” Fortunately, by the first calendar quarter of 2011, Apple’s iPhone sales had been revived and has reached 18.65 million units – which made Pegatron stocks increased to 3.1%.Read the rest of the article »
Apple has already lowered iPhone 4’s shipment volume for calendar Q2 2011. This is due to the company’s preparation of the unveiling of the newer iPhone in Q3 2011, Digitimes reports.
Another report states that Apple wouldn’t unveil an LTE-equipped iPhone before 2012. Many reports state that the current sizes of the LTE chipsets do not fit in the iPhone’s form factor. Also, the availability of the chipsets wouldn’t reach Apple’s quantity demand for the next iPhone.
Furthermore, Apple was originally expected to ship 7-8 million iPad 2s in the second quarter based on preivous sales performance reports, but will ship 10-10.5 million units in line with its target sales of 35-40 million units in 2011, according to some sources.
See the clever short film that involves a man, a red ball and three iPhones.
Watch this cool video of a man playing with a red ball while confined inside three iPhone 4. The short film was created by Ronen Verbit and choreographed by Vanya Polunin. The tricky part of the video is stitch together the movements across the three Apple devices.
With careful and right timing, the movement of the ball thrown across the room was achieved. There was even a scene where the man appeared to be trapped inside the iPhone and so he has to crawl a bit in order to move.

Aside from color, the white iPhone 4 also differs in thickness by 0.2mm.
Just a day after Apple released its white iPhone 4, a reader of MacRumors notified the site that the new handset is slightly thicker than the original model. The difference in size is very little, but its discrepancy is enough for the white iPhone 4 to unfit in the reader’s Incase slider case:
Just picked up the white iPhone 4 and realized it doesn’t fit into my Incase slider case. It appears that Apple has increased the size of the plastic that borders the glass on both sides by about 1mm.
Marketcircle’s Ryan Cash also noticed the same just by picking up the white iPhone 4. He even send a comparison photo (posted above) of the white and black iPhone 4 to show the slight difference. According to Tipb, the difference in thickness of white iPhone 4 versus the black ones measures 0.2mm. Obviously, this small difference in size is enough to affect tight fitting slider cases. However, other cases seems to be fine on both, as tested by Tipb.View Article Source »
