Apple’s Tim Cook: To Reveal iPhone 5 on October 4

Written on September 22, 2011 by Japhet Writ

The rumor mill is continuously churning, as another report claimed that Tim Cook will reveal the next-gen iPhone on October 4.

According to an insider from AllThingsD, Apple will unveil the iPhone 5 on October 4. The show will be led by Tim Cook, together with Phillip W. Schiller (SVP for Worldwide Product Marketing), Scott Forstall (SVP for iOS Software), and Eddie Cue (SVP for Internet Software and Services.)

However, the devices that will be unveiled on October 4 remains a mystery. New iPods are seem likely to be announced, while others also expects an iPad 3 announcement. But ultimately, many are getting giddy on whether Apple will announce the iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S or both. The iOS 5 is also expected to be officially released on the said date, as it’s already nearing its Gold Master version.

If the October 4 turns out to be true, that would mean an almost immediate release of the next-gen iPhone on October 15. But keep in mind that none of these has been officially confirmed, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Rumor: Sprint to Offer Apple’s iPhone 5 in October

Written on August 24, 2011 by Avlya Jaie

WSJ claims that Sprint, along with AT&T and Verizon, will be offering the iPhone 5 in mid-October.

Whether it’s real or just another rumor, this report would certainly catch the attention of most iPhone consumers. The Wall Street Journal had recently announced that Sprint will offer the 5th-generation iPhone once it has been released in “mid-October”, making it the third U.S. carrier to sell the iPhone 5, following AT&T and Verizon.

Sprint, one of the nation’s largest wireless service provider, is said to be the third to receive the anticipated device after Apple launched with AT&T in 2007 and with Verizon this year. Perhaps this is a good way to save the company from being left behind by Verizon and AT&T/T-Mobile’s merging.

TiPb: iPhone 5 is Coming in October as ‘World Phone’

According to TiPb, Apple's iPhone 5 will roll out on early October as a "world phone." Would that be a good idea?

While Apple is yet to disclose the release of the next-generation iPhone, one tech blog – TiPb – is predicting that the mobile device will have an early October launch. The tech blog also added that the next-gen iPhone – be it a completely revamped iPhone 5 or an iterative iPhone 4S – will come as a “world phone.”

That said, the rumored iPhone 5 will be compatible to both GSM and CDMA. It is also believed that the handset will have a SIM-less design, and up to three or four antennas. Still, it is suggested that the iPhone 5 will feature a SIM card slot for other countries — but not in the US. This would let users insert any SIM card in the device when travelling overseas. And these rumors appear to be in the horizon, as Apple’s recent patent filing suggests.

Apple: To Release iPhone 4S, iPad Pro, and iPod Touch White?

Rumor alert! Apple will be releasing iPhone 5, iPod Touch White and iPad Pro this fall?

While many refers to Apple’s next gen iPhone as iPhone 5, others pointed out that it will have another name. In fact there is the buzz that it’ll be iPhone 4S or iPhone 4Gs. In addition to this, the rumored iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S is said to be the biggest release of the fall. However, it seems that the coming season will bring much more than a new handset.

The Cupertino-based company is rumored to launch three new devices this fall: The iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S, the iPod Touch White and the iPad Pro. The information comes from an anonymous resource person, who seems to have heard the news from Apple’s top distributor in China. The unnamed resource person leaked the information to iPhone5NewsBlog, writing an email that says, “Heard from one of distributors today, they are quite confirmed that Apple will announce iPhone 4Gs, iPod Touch white, and iPad Pro next month. Take it as a reference. I think they should be reliable.”

However, the resource person admitted that it’s just a rumor. Hence, people must take this as a grain of salt. But if these rumors are proven to be true, then fall would be a full season for Apple.

China Telecom Dealing With Apple for an iPhone Deal

A Ticonderoga Securities analyst pointed out a clue stating that the China Telecom will be having a deal with Apple.

Brian White, an analyst from Ticonderoga Securities, stated a possible hint that Apple will be having a deal with China Telecom for their iPhone 5. Indicating a news post from Sohu, he mentioned that the said carrier had reached a preliminary agreement to carry two different edition of iPhone by late October. The designs includes the genuine iPhone 5 as well as the cheaper iPhone 4 version to compete low-end Android.

Brian White also said that the second largest carrier in China, the China Telecom, would be a major target for Apple. The basic iPhone 4 would be enough to reach a much wider audience. China Telecom has a total of 108.4 million subscribers. However, only few subscribers could afford an iPhone but might be within reach.

Pegatron’s Plan to Be the Second iPhone 5 Supplier, Still on Track

Written on August 03, 2011 by Lulu

Pegatron declared that they are still on track with their plan to be the second iPhone 5 Supplier.

Pegatron’s plan to be the second company to supply iPhone 5 is still on track. The said firm’s order is now expected to be 10 million, instead of the earlier hinted 15 million. However, it will still release the said device in September.┬áThe information slightly contradicts the rumor that Apple’s new smartphone may not appear until October, since Pegatron would be shipping directly to Apple and customers.

As the primary manufacturer of CDMA iPhones, Pegatron is widely known to the manufacturing base. However, it’s just a runner-up to Foxconn that handles GSM iPhones. The revelations from Verizon which stated that iPhone 5 is probably a dual-mode phone may turn Pegatron’s production into a compliment instead of a vital responsibility. This kind of strategy might prevent the chronic shortages and international delays to occur.

Irrespective of the iPhone plans, Pegatron is hoping to increase its responsibility to include the iPad and Macs. iPhone margins are said to be small and leave the company eager to diversify its contracts. Pegatron was ASUS’ original manufacturing wing and still produces notebooks for ASUS and other companies until today. These includes 8 to 10 million planned for Acer for next year.

Handset retailers are said to release their first batch of Windows Phone 7 Mango devices in September, to compete against Apple's iPhone 5.

Apple Might Release New “iPad HD” This Fall?

Written on July 08, 2011 by Avlya Jaie

Comments Off

Reports said that Apple is planning to release a redesigned iPad, the "iPad HD", this coming fall with a 9.7" 2048x1536 pixel display.

Recent reports from “This is my Next” claimed that Apple will be releasing its new “iPad HD”, a higher-resolution iPad, later this year. The said launching will be scheduled along with the current iPad 2, and will target consumers from the video and photo market. Few Apple apps, such as Final Cut Pro or Aperture, are also expected to be sold alongside the next-gen iPad.

Sources also discussed the issue of whether the next-generation iPhone should be referred as “iPhone 5″ or “iPhone 4s”, since there are previous news stating that Apple’s 5th-gen iPhone will just be an extension of iPhone 4 rather than a full iPhone 5 update. As reports disclosed, the company is planning to produce a smaller and lighter design for the next iPhone. However, they’ve done such tests within the limits of iPhone 4, which creates the idea that iPhone 5 is not really a complete redesign.

Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile are battling over Apple's iPhone 5, even though the handset is yet to hit the shelves.

But just wait until Apple’s iPhone 5 also surfaces on Sprint and T-Mobile.
