Join AllWeLike as we uncover the truth about the iPhone 4 belonging to competing networks.

Last week, we welcomed the announcement of Verizon iPhone 4 to the world. It will be out in less than a month to the Verizon 3G network. But many wonder, will it be better than the AT&T iPhone 4?

We can smell the between the two networks. To help you out in choosing the right network to trust, All We Like gathered the most important information about the two networks and their own versions of the story.

What can AT&T do?

AT&T is popular for using GSM or the Global System for Mobile Communications. A network technology infrastructure capable of handling voice and data at the same time. However it is only connected to 1 tower at a time which results to a “hard handoff” from tower to tower. This causes the increase of dropped calls and reduces the stability of voice network on phone calls.

Oh yes! The much-awaited Verizon iPhone is now here. Big Red subscribers can place their pre-orders on February 3 while non-subscribers can have it on February 10.

The rumor about the Verizon iPhone is finally confirmed. Verizon iPhone 4 is now official. After the long wait, Apple and Verizon fulfilled the dreams of many people: iPhone is coming to the Big Red.

Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam confirmed a CDMA version of iPhone 4 on Verizon Wireless next month. Current Verizon subscribers will be able to pre-order on February 3 for a standard price of $200 for the 16GB model and a two year deal while $300 for the 32GB. Everyone outside the Big Red will be able to order on February 10.

Outside the Verizon connectivity, the iPhone is unchanged, though Verizon’s CDMA network doesn’t support simultaneous voice as the GSM. It carries the long been rumored new antenna design. There will also be a slight modification which equates to a slight bump in the volume and mute switch so it requires a new case.

Apple’s iPad has Camera Potential

Written on August 04, 2010 by Japhet Writ

Comments Off

iPad was launched without a camera, as opposed to the rumors that it will have. However, rumors might turn into facts one way or another, now that iPad was discovered to have a camera potential.

Corporate users of Apple’s iPad can disable the use of camera. This management profile policies is an evidence of the intent to include camera on future models. Configuration profile tools provided by Apple for iOS devices features variety of settings and restrictions. It allows company to impose how devices are used and to configure services. The policy can also force strong password and security features, such as the number of times a password attempt can fail. It can even block access to features like iTunes store, Safari or YouTube.

Cameras can be disabled to iPhone, but no iPad models currently do. However, the profile specifically included in the iPad documentation notes the ability to restrict camera use. Rumors, prior to launch, has it that Apple’s tablet might include a camera. But the device only provided the ability to connect to external cameras. Functions, like API support for camera, flash and zoom were discovered in the iPad-only 3.2 developer builds. Those APIs may have been part of software deveopment to support iPhone 4, but Apple posted a job list for a Performance QA Endgineer for iPad Media. Part of the job description is to “build on your QA experience and knowledge of digital camera technology (still and video) to develop and maintain testing frameworks for both capture and playback pipelines”. It seems that the next models of iPad will include a camera, preferably front-facing to support FaceTime.
