Bring out the champagne, because Capcom is celebrating Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition's shipping of one million units worldwide.

Capcom has announced through a very giddy press release that the Nintendo 3DS game, Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, has shipped a whopping total of one million units worldwide. The legendary fighting game is now branded as Nintendo 3DS first title to reach the one million-mark.

Although we’re not quite sure if ‘shipped’ translates into ‘sold’ in Capcom’s books. For all we know, the units could just be hanging around the gaming shelves gathering dust. But whatever, Capcom is celebrating nevertheless.

Who would have thought that a skinless piece of cube could’ve gone this far? In an interview over at Pocketful of Megabytes, Super Meat Boy creators, Edmund Mcmillen and Tommy Refenes, unveiled that the game has sold around 600,000 copies across Steam and Xbox Live Arcade.

The numbers came from the total of Steam’s sales of 400,000 and Xbov Live Arcade’s 200,000 sales. The creators credit the Steam sales to a holiday promotion sale, which catapulted the game to where it stands today.

Nintendo 3DS Headaches Story Not True According to Retailers

Written on April 06, 2011 by Chris Martin

The power of the tabloids have been questioned anew, as Nintendo and other retailers refute The Sun's report on a massive Nintendo 3DS return.

The claim made by UK tabloid, The Sun, that the Nintendo 3DS “has left thousands with dizziness and headaches” which led to “record return levels” is completely false, according to Nintendo, HMV and GAME — the three companies mentioned in the article. However, the companies did confirm that there were complaints and returns, but the numbers are only a handful.

According to Nintendo, the “recent reports are incorrect.” They further elaborated that “the number of calls and emails with queries on Nintendo 3DS is in fact well below the rate experienced during past hardware launches and having spoken with our retail partners there are only a handful of people who have actually gone into stores to request a refund.”

Sony challenges Nintendo's streak, as PSP game Final Fantasy IV Collection leads game sales list. Meanwhile, PSP console rises from the ashes to come in as close second to the 3DS.

It’s the week where Sony rises from the ashes and kicks some gaming competition butt, as Final Fantasy IV Collection dominates Japan’s weekly game sales. Meanwhile, Sony PSP rises from the plateau to come in a close 2nd to the Nintendo 3DS in the console wars.

If there’s anything this week’s game and console sales list indicate, is that Sony isn’t going down without a fight despite the Nintendo 3DS euphoria going on in Japan.

Newly released Final Fantasy IV Collection for the Sony PSP tramples on the competition in Japan’s game sales this week, banking in a whopping 104,173 units sold. Dynasty Warriors 6 for the PS3 on the other hand comes in second, while also new entry Gundam the 3D Battle for the Nintendo 3DS lands at third notch.

The Nintendo 3DS launch in Japan is exactly one month away for those in North America. But for an initial release, the gaming platform is already a sold out.

The Nintendo 3DS which made its launch in Japan last Saturday is definitely a sold out. However, most of them were pre-orders only. Still, there are some stores in Japan with the same-day units that drew the line up to 1,000. The stocks ran out fast by 9:00 in the morning, so most people were out of luck.

Good thing, Nintendo officially announced that it will ship 1.5 million units to Japanese shops by March 31.

Happy Pre-Order a Nintendo 3DS Day!

Written on January 20, 2011 by Chris Martin

They're not lining up to get a 3DS, but they're lining up to make sure they get a 3DS once it hits the stores next month.

The Nintendo 3DS is so popular that people are starting to line-up around the techi-est district in Japan. But the Nintendo 3DS won’t be launched until next month there, so what the heck are these people doing outside the streets of Akihabara? Don’t worry, these people are not planning to camp outside for 30+ days (though we wouldn’t be surprised if they did). These people are lining up to get a shot for the pre-orders of the handheld console which Nintendo has officially kicked off today at retailers nationwide.

A blogger where the photo was posted has mentioned that around 260 people were lined up for pre-orders, but that was hours ago. Imagine how many people are out there waiting to get a reaffirmation that they’ll have one on release date. Reports say that only 400,000 Nintendo 3DS units will be available upon release date. Nintendo has mentioned that a total of 1.5 million consoles will be available until the end of the fiscal year or March 31. No word yet as to how many 3DS units will be available in other parts of the globe once the console has been released on March 27.
