Apple enjoys brisk sales, sells 3 million units of the new iPad since March 16
Since arriving in stores last March 16, over 3 million units of the new iPad has been sold, making it a “blockbuster and the strongest iPad launch yet” says Philip Schiller, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, in an official press release.
“Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can’t wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday.” Schiller added.
This is a record breaker for Apple because only 400,000 to 500,000 units of iPad 2’s and only 600,000 to 700,000 units of the first generation iPad were sold in its opening weekend according to Piper Jaffray analyst, Gene Munster.
Sales are expected to increase since it will be launched in 24 additional countries on March 23 at 8:00 a.m. local time.View Article Source »

"[Apple's] iPhone shipments in 2011 are expected to reach a new record." ---DigiTimes
There is a rumor circulating on tech websites all over the Internet that the iPad 2 will be out on April, while CDMA iPhone will soon ship over Asia. Both speculations are the current trending gossips inside the Apple community.
MacNotes cited “reliable sources” saying that the iPad 2 will be ready for US buyers on the first or the second Saturday of April. Allegedly, the tablet will be exclusive for the United States for three months. The device is said to come out with a high-resolution “retina” display, front and rear cameras and a USB port. The predictions actually matched the rumors about iPad 2. There are also reports that the device will be flatter and better speakers will be installed.
The other iOS news is about DigiTimes’ claiming that the CDMA iPhone by Verizon is on its way to China, Japan and South Korea. Because of this, “[Apple’s] iPhone shipments in 2011 are expected to reach a new record,” DigiTimes wrote.
The predictions seems too good to be true since Apple tends to stick to a yearly release in devices like iPhone and iPod so April will be a good month for release of the iPad 2.Read the rest of the article »
