“We will not be announcing a Toshiba TV or Blu-ray player or demonstrating the products at C.E.S. We have an understanding with Google about the future product roadmap and will bring the right product out at the right timeframe.” ---Jeff Barney, vice president of Toshiba’s digital products division.

People will not get the chance to have the first look on the new Google TV next month on CES 2011. World’s Largest Satellite – A Spy on Space

Written on November 23, 2010 by B Waldorf

“This is the most aggressive launch campaign that the National Reconnaissance Office has had in 20 years… These [satellites] are very important, because they all go to update a constellation which is aging rapidly. We bought most of our satellites for three, five, or eight years, and we’re keeping them on orbit for ten, twelve, and up to twenty years.” ---Bruce Carlson, NRO Director

The United States launched a satellite to spy on the galaxy. This is not just a regular satellite. It is the largest satellite to orbit our planet. The purpose remains top secret but rumors say that it monitors more than the weather of Earth. An additional mission of the space craft is to gather intelligence for the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office.

Dubbed as NROL-32, the satellite was sent to orbit the earth yesterday by a Delta 4 Heavy rocket. The U.S. National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) Director Bruce Carlson said the NROL-32 would be “the largest satellite in the world.”

Carlson gave a speech last month, in that he stated that the agency had adopted a new charter and “a remarkably aggressive launch campaign” that’ll come along with it.

People are not surprised with the release of invitation about the event involving Facebook and MySpace. It been awhile that rumors about Facebook and MySpace integration came about. Just wait and see where this project leads.

Today is a special day for Facebook and MySpace. The two social networking sites decided to do a joint announcement. This was according to an invitation that is currently spreading on social networking websites.

“Please join us for an invitation-only announcement by Mike Jones, CEO of Myspace (MySpace), and Dan Rose, VP of Partnerships and Platform Marketing, Facebook (Facebook),” stated the invitation. The invitation is set to start today at 12:00 PM PT via webcast.

People are speculating that this announcement could be MySpace using Facebook connect, something that has long been rumored. MySpace’s recent website and UI revamps transformed the site to an entertainment site rather than a direct competitor to Facebook. Now, MySpace focuses on its content and it seems Facebook Connect is its stepping stone.

Netflix Streams on Selected Androids Only

Written on November 15, 2010 by B Waldorf

This news is somewhat on the gray area. Netflix will be start streaming on Android devices but on just selected units. What do you think?

Year 2011 will be a good start for something new. As with Android users, Netflix will stream on you smartphones starting next year. No need to envy your friends friends who use WP7 or iPhone mobiles. Unfortunately, the app is limited to a few Android OS.

Netflix’s product development head, Greg Peters, reinstated in his blog yesterday that “the lack of a generic and complete platform security and content protection mechanism available for Android” was the one thing which stops the expansion of the platform to other Android devices.

“We are eager to launch on these devices and are disappointed that we haven’t been able to do so already,” he also wrote.

Since there’s no solution yet, Netflix works now with individual hardware manufacturers to the supported devices. First batch of the decives will be getting the app by 2011. But Peters said the company is already working on a platform-wide solution but no final words about the release date.

Let’s wait and see to where this project goes.
