Skype for Windows Gets Full HD Video Calling

Skype releases update for Windows client that includes full HD video calling, group screen sharing and support for Facebook audio and video calling.
Skype has released an updated version for the Windows client. Skype version 5.8 for windows, which was released on Thursday, includes a bunch of new and improved features.
Some of the cool new features are Full HD Video-Calling, a new feature which allows you to make video calls in HD quality, a Group Screen Sharing which can be used to share an entire screen or a single application window and Video-Calling to Facebook contacts which can be used to make calls, even if your friends are not on Skype. It also has a new ‘push to talk’ feature that allows the use of hotkeys to trigger the microphone, a feature that most gamers will find useful when playing multiplayer games.

Good news for selected Android smartphone owners! Skype just rolled out a new version of their video calls app for Android.
Skype has released an update of its Android app, which brings video calls to selected batch of Android devices. The Skype video calls for Android will be available for Google Nexus S, HTC Desire S, Xperia Neo and Xperia Pro. But as more smartphones are having front-facing camera and being updated to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, expect the list of compatible device to grow longer.

New for Apple's iPad 2: Fring's tablet-optimized four-way video application.
Fring, a popular instant messaging and video VoIP service, recently released a tablet-optimized app for the iPad 2. The Fring app comes in free from the App Store, and enables users to make four-way video calls to other subscribers.
The Fring app for iPad 2 also works with 3G, so there’ll be little need for Apple’s WiFi and iOS only FaceTime application. Fring is also set to release an inter-platform calling app Android sometime in the future.
