Windows Phone 7 Mango Have Hidden Feature

Written on August 25, 2011 by Lulu

A hidden feature of Windows Phone 7 Mango has been discovered on late Wednesday. Look out for the hotspot!

A discovery on late Wednesday revealed that Windows Phone 7 has a hidden mobile hotspot feature. While not revealed in public, and might have no one officially, an Internet sharing section enable users share a 3G or 4G link over Wi-Fi for up to five people — much like Android, iPhone and BlackBerry 7 devices. The code is in at least the gold master build (7720.68), and could exist on all Windows phones.

Popular ChevronWP7 contributor, Rafael Rivera, confirmed the said code and speculated that – like Apple – the feature depended on a carrier profile that enables it. Almost all carriers who object to letting customers tether or use a hotspot out of the box often want to test the feature first before they enable it and begin to charge subscribers.

Several Mango features, like multitasking, the IE9-based browser and deeper voice control, are public. Whether or not all of those are revealed to the masses isn’t evident yet. Even the currently shipping IS12T, which is the world’s first Mango phone, doesn’t have all its features readily available.

Skype buys GroupMe, plans to offer group messaging services to smartphones users.

Recently, Skype has acquired Jared Hecht and Steve Martocci’s “GroupMe”, allowing the company to bring mobile group messaging into its services. Skype remained silent with regards to their exact plans, the terms of the deal and pricing were not even disclosed, but the company confirmed that one of their goals is to deliver the “best in class text-based communications.”

Like BlackBerry’s Messenger and Apple’s iMessage, GroupMe also offers unique features that are truly interesting. It allows users to access question-oriented conversations, set up private phone group settings, experience free conference calls, and even send group text messages. According to the developers, they have started with Android, BlackBerry, and iPhone apps first; and then they’ve added a Windows Phone 7 version which would help Skype in its future role to Microsoft. The service also lets users to do chat on the web — a vital feature for Microsoft’s cloud aspirations and future partnership with Facebook’s Skype-based services.

Although the service might not arrive until early next year, Microsoft affirmed that they are looking forward to offering services similar to BBM or iMessage once the Skype becomes available to Windows Phone’s core interface.

The Verdict for Windows Phone 7

Written on November 19, 2010 by B Waldorf

1 person

The craze of the Windows Phone 7 is still at its high and people continues to rave about it. Why did this device suddenly become the talk of the town? Read on as Allwelike gives its own opinion about what makes WP 7 different from other smartphones.

Check out the Internet and find hundreds of reviews about the Windows Phone 7 (WP7). After browsing through these writings, Allwelike come up with the conclusion why Windows Phone 7 rocks. First things which makes it special is because it is created by Microsoft. Admit it, Microsoft integration is a genius idea. It can be considered the most tectonic shift in mobile industry since the birth of iPhone and Android. Windows Phone 7 is a one of a kind Microsoft product. Most people do not find any good in Internet Explorer, but with WP7, everything changed. It might be the beginning of something great.

The engineers and executives of Microsoft have decided to focus on Windows Mobile in the last two years and begin to create a new operating system from scratch. This step was taken to action since Windows Mobile 6 version was declined by the market. The decline tarnished the companies reputation in the Operating System business. The development gave rise to what people know now as Windows Phone 7.

Microsoft was quite strict on creating devices running the new OS. These are the criteria the company identified:

* Capacitive Touch: Four or more contact points
* Sensors: A-GPS, Accelerometer, Compass, Light, Proximity
* Camera: 5-megapixel or more, Camera with a flash and dedicated camera button
* Multimedia: Common detailed specs, Codec acceleration
* Memory: 256 MB, 8 GB Flash or more
* GPU: DirectX 9 acceleration
* Processor: ARMv7 Cortex/Scorpion or better
* 2 screen sizes: 480×800 WVGA, 480×320 HVGA
* Keyboard: Optional
* Hardware Buttons: Must be fixed on the face

Microsoft to Hand-Out Windows Phone 7 to its Employees

Written on July 28, 2010 by B Waldorf

Comments Off

Microsoft’s expert Mary Jo Foley has tweeted a company employee who is bragging about the commitment to hand out Windows Phone 7 devices to each employee of Redmond’s 90,000 plus employees all over the world. A good way to spread the word. Realistically speaking, the cost of this to Microsoft is a drop in the bucket if they can really do this and take advantage of the advertising effect.

This step would be a delight in process if they are sure about this campaign. They should be able to make the complimentary unit solid, hot and working while handing out to employees. Microsoft surely has the work spirit of multitasking when they really are working. Indeed.
