After being disappointed with Gears of War 2, hear the players and fans' expectations for its third installment.

The third installment of Gears of War will launch on September 20, 2011 for the Xbox 360 platform. However, even if it takes advantage of having a solid franchise brand, it also have its biggest burden. Because it’s an installment of a famous game franchise, it will have a much higher demand than other games. Moreover, it is also easier to market it with the game’s fans. But its high demand comes with high expectations from gamers, especially to those who played its previous installment.

Fans of the said game expect a lot for the third installment of it, after the second installment disappointed them with its Hollywood- esque campaign and its laggy multiplayer. First of all, fans of Gears of War wants the third installment to have an improved plot and character study. Gamers should be able to relate with the game’s protagonist to enjoy the game’s story even more. This means that there must be a little more depth to the game’s characters. Another is that it should be a more tactical shooting game. There must be more tactical moves inside the game besides run, duck and fire at an enemy on its blind spot.

When is the right time for Sony to release its PlayStation 4?

Recent reports suggested that Sony will be releasing its next-gen PS console, the PlayStation 4, as early as 2012. In relation to this, a SlashGear article by Don Reisinger is pushing that the company must unveil the PS4 as soon as possible. This is due to the reaction of Sony fans with regards to the new console, and the fact that PS3 is not doing well in the US. Moreover, the PlayStation Move was not able to caught the gamer’s fancy the way Microsoft Kinect did.

Furthermore, if Sony will bring out the PlayStation 4, it will divert all the talks about the company’s recent troubles with its PlayStation Network. If they could also time the unveiling of the new PlayStation console with Nintendo Wii U’s release, it may preempt gamers from switching to the upcoming handheld gaming device. Sony must also have to worry about Microsoft’s plan. However, there are a lot of PlayStation 3 owners who may have only signed up recently. So seeing that a new console is coming won’t please them — big time!

Hence, it may be ideal for Sony to release its PS 4 next year and be the first on the line. But they could also wait for their competitors’ next move before showing their hand. Would you like to see the PlayStation 4 hit the shelves next year? Let your opinions be heard at the comments.

Star Trek Phaser set at Sony’s E3 press conference

The Phaser, the PlayStation Move attachment awed people at Sony's E3 press conference.

Star Trek has hardly ever done action-adventure shooters on a console and has never done them with a playable Kirk and Spock. It will then be wish fulfilment for many when brought together in a third-person shooter, with cooperative, drop-in/drop-out play through all of its game modes.

Digital Extremes made Spock and Kirk work cooperatively but asymmetrically through using unique weapons and talents on the same targets. Some sequences will place them together on the screen doing different things.
