Thanks to smartphones and televisions, YouTube viewership increased by 25%.
Google released an official confirmation that Google has been receiving 4 billion video views a day. Reuters released additional news on Monday and mentioned that there was 25% increase in the video-hosting site’s viewership.
Google added that 60 hours of new video content is uploaded every minute. Last May, the statistics showed that only 48 hours of video were added per minute.
The increase in the viewer’s population brought about $5 billion worth of revenue from advertisements.View Article Source »

Last week, Google acquired the startup fflick. The main reason behind the move? Social Networking.
The “fflick” startup is designed to aggregate conversations regarding videos happening on both Facebook and Twitter. Google confirmed that they purchased fflick with the reason that:
“The fflick team will help us build features to connect you with the great videos talked about all over the web, and surface the best of those conversations for you to participate in,” according to Shiva Rajaraman, the YouTube group product manager.
The entry states that there are more than 400 tweets per 60 seconds containing YouTube links and Facebook users watch more that 150 years’ worth of YouTube flicks.
