Zynga, the popular social games creator, might postpone its plans for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) due to poor market conditions.

Due to some poor market condition issues, people might not see Zynga’s plans for an IPO until November of this year.

According to the sources of The New York Post, the social gaming company is facing hindrances because of several “rocky stock markets” affairs, making them unable to release its IPO next month as originally scheduled.

If you could remember, Zynga – the company behind such popular social games, including FarmVille, CityVille and Mafia Wars – confirmed last June that they wanted to go public. They even aimed to raise $1.5 billion to $2 billion in its IPO. But after encountering a debt ceiling debate in summer, Zynga became incapable of fulfilling their plans.

Zynga is just one of the many social media IPOs that is slated to be launched in the upcoming months. Groupon, another renowned social media IPO, has also faced series of delays due to SEC accounting concerns. Up to now, the social games’ maker remains silent with regards to this matter.

As part of their partnership with Chinese Internet giant Tencent, Zynga will be launching a localized Chinese beta version of CityVille - the Zynga City.

Facebook is not accessible in China, thus, Zynga is not as well capable of launching such social games in the area. However, the developer announced recently that they signed a partnership with Tencent – an Internet company in China – in order to produce the beta version of the popular CityVille which will be named as “Zynga City.”

According to Zynga, this partnership is indeed vital for them, as they are aiming to enter new markets and broaden the numbers of their partner companies. The largest social games developer on Facebook first invaded the markets of China by attaining the XPD Media, another game developer, way back in May 2010. Perhaps that is the time when Zynga begins to grow and produced new social games in some Asian countries, such as Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Who will be PopCap Games’ Buyer?

Written on June 23, 2011 by Avlya Jaie

PopCap Games, the producers of Zuma and Plants vs'. Zombies, is now in the process of being acquired for a price of over $1 Billion+.

Plants vs. Zombies’ producer, PopCap Games, is now slated to be acquired for a price of $1 Billion+ by an undisclosed buyer.

The first possible buyer is Zynga, which is known for making game-related acquisitions last year. However, some sources said they’ve backed out since PopCap Games is demanding a price that is too high. PopCap is earning $100-150 million, offering themselves to be bought for over $1 billion. By hearing Zynga out, Electronic Arts enters the scene. But PopCap acquisition was still too large for a type of company that has a market capital of $7.49 billion. Actually, this was not EA’s first big bet, since they had bought Playfish last 2009 for $400 million.

Sources also stated that there are two more candidates on the line. The first one is an Asian company that is looking forward to taking a good standing in the gaming market. And Tencent, a Chinese company that has a very huge market capital and some labeled games as well.

Earning over $22.5 million in 2009, PopCap Games seems to be one of the richest videogame productions in the industry. As of now, there are still no new updates regarding who will be PopCap Games’ buyer.

Players will have to visit “Gagaville”, a neighboring farm where they must perform lightweight tasks to unlock tracks from Born This Way.
